About AHEC (Northwest Pennsylvania Area Health Education Center)
We are a national organization that specializes in training and recruiting health care professional to work in primary in underserved areas. We are divided into seven regions in Pennsylvania with each region working together to support healthcare training. The Northwest PA region consists of 15 counties.
We offer community health worker training to those in all backgrounds to be a liason between the medical professionals and the community. The AHEC "SEARCH" program offers health career education to those at the 9th through 12th grade level and the AHEC Scholars program targets those students in select undergraduate majors and graduate programs to supplemental their existing curriculum in public health training.
