In 2013, in response to an ever-increasing demand and a rapidly dwindling supply of Emergency Medical Service providers, EmergyCare held its first annual Camp EMS. The 6-day, 5-night camp goal is to cultivate an interest in the Prehospital Emergency Medical Profession by exposing youth ages 14 – 17 to the exciting, high-paced, high-demand, prehospital profession. Hands-on activities for the campers include medical, and trauma patient assessment, airway management lab, heart and lung anatomy/dissection, history taking and vital signs assessment, advanced life support assist, mass casualty/triage, and incident command process, spinal immobilization, splinting, and other immobilization. The camp also helps the participants develop essential life skills such as daily physical fitness, self-discipline, interpersonal communication, and teamwork.
