This health career exploration program has been in existence since 1974. Partnering with French Creek Council, Saint Vincent provides representatives who are willing to meet with students once a month (evening hours) to have an indepth interaction with representatives from all areas within the organization (E.g., Radiology, Emergency Room, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Lab, Operating Room, etc.
By exposing students to the many types of health professions, this encourages students to find out exactly what he/she may or may not like for a future job, thus avoiding unnecessary education expenses. It also is a stepping stone for becoming involved in our summer Jr. Volunteer Program--which actually has resulted in some high school job placements. What a great way for the student to begin networking and/or finding a mentor!
Upcoming program: Physician Career Interest Night - Wednesday, March 4 - Special casual forum for students to find out the good, the bad and the ugly parts of being a physician--Forum includes a panel of physicians, medical residents and medical students just telling it like it is...
High school students ages 15-18 years of age.
