On Constitution Day (September 16, 2016), Erie Together, Gannon University and U.S. Senator Pat Toomey's office are hosting a full-day "Youth Civic Engagement Symposium" at Gannon University's Yehl Room. We are inviting school districts to send senior high school students, but seating is limited and will be offered on a first come, first-served basis. Career Street will reimburse participating school districts for transportation costs.
During the event, students will visit the federal and county court houses and Erie City Hall, and hear from local officials and experts on various federal, state and local government topics. The lunch keynote address will be delivered by Mark A. Jubulis, associate professor of political science at Gannon University, speaking on "Civil Society and Democracy in America: How We Participate and Make Democracy Work." The program is expected to run from 8:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., and the draft schedule for the day is attached
