In an effort to expand our outreach to high school students interested in health care careers, UPMC Hamot and UPMC Center for Engagement and Inclusion are teaming up again to promote career exploration at the 2016 Fast Track to Health Care Careers program.
Fast Track to Health Care Careers is an activity designed to offer a quick and up close exposure to the many careers available in healthcare. This activity involves various UPMC employees talking with students about their careers and answering a set of prepared questions by the students (reverse interview). Students will rotate in small groups to each table interviewing professionals for approximately 10 minutes each. Each health care professional will have a designated table.
The reverse interview setting provides a unique opportunity for students to explore health care careers, to understand the importance of education and the planning it requires, and to improve communication skills. We believe Fast Track to Health Care Careers will not only help to increase students’ awareness of various health care roles, but will also introduce them to non-traditional professions in health care.
