Description
Sonya Arrington founded MATV after the shooting death of her son Steve Arrington in January of 2010. Her desire to make a difference in the community after this family trauma led to collaborations with many individuals and organizations who share the vision of reducing youth violence in Erie.

With the help of these collaborators, the MATV team developed a youth mentoring after school and summer program called LEAD or Leadership Empowerment Accountability Diversity. The majority of LEAD students are court ordered to attend the program as an alternative to juvenile detention, most frequently for truancy and minor offenses.

MATV is working to find additional ways to reduce youth and gun violence in Erie and is currently working to encourage community involvement in these efforts.
